Conversa Club was founded by Sérgio Pedrosa, a dual US-Portuguese citizen who grew up between New England and Figueira da Foz, and has spent nearly two decades helping adult learners move from understanding European Portuguese to genuinely speaking it. He built this community because language learning should feel human: not overwhelming, not lonely, and not limited to a textbook.

Is Conversa Club right for me?
If you're an adult learner who wants to speak European Portuguese - not just understand it - you'll feel at home here. Beginners are welcome, but if you already have some basics, you'll likely hit the ground running. What matters most is that you want to learn in a human, low-pressure way, not through drills and memorization.

What's the difference between European and Brazilian Portuguese?

More than most people expect. The pronunciation, rhythm, vocabulary, and even some grammar differ significantly between the two. If your goal is to live in, visit, or connect with Portugal, European Portuguese is what you need - and that's all we teach here.
What exactly do I get as a member?

Membership gives you access to the Learning Hub (mini-lessons at three levels), Cultural Connections (articles on Portuguese life and culture), Agenda Viva (language for daily routines), Escuta Viva (listening and video practice with transcripts, translations, and vocabulary notes), and an active community forum to practice and connect.
New content is added regularly, and members vote on what gets prioritized next, so this isn't a fixed course you work through and finish. It's a living community that grows with the people in it.
Do I need to show up live or follow a schedule?

No. Conversa Club is designed to fit around your life. The content is always available, and there's no obligation to participate on any particular schedule. You engage when it suits you, and the community will be there when you’re ready.
